Improving Performance

First, consider carefully where you situate your refrigeration. Placing it in direct sunlight or close to sources of heat, like radiators or cooking equipment, will clearly mean it will need to work harder to keep to temperature, using more energy and costing you unnecessary expense.

Second, avoid over-filling your refrigeration equipment. Refrigeration is achieved most quickly and maintained with the least energy if cold air is able to freely circulate around the inside of the unit. Not storing stock on the base of the unit but only on the shelves, leaving a small gap at the sides and the back and not filling above the level indicated will all help to reduce the amount and so the cost of the energy needed to refrigerate your stock.
